We Tried the Best Affordable Blowout Brushes and This is What We Think!

Blowouts are back! That voluminous 90s style hair can be achieved in a simpler way these days due to new blow dryer designs. The best ones by far are the big round brush blow dryers. Hot hair comes from within the core of the brush, and you can style as you dry. This technology is a great way to save time and heat damage from having to use multiple styling tools.

The two that I will be talking about are the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and the CHI Volumizer 4-in-1 Blowout Brush. These two products are both available for purchase on Amazon.

CHI Volumizer 4-in-1 Blowout Brush

The design of this brush is very similar to the Revlon Blowout Brush. The one unique detail about this brush is that it contains Ion Technology to provide shine and reduce frizz. This was the first brand of “Hot-Air Brushes” that I tried, and overall, it worked great. It was able to style and dry my hair in under 30 minutes, which coming from someone with thick and curly hair, was a miracle. I did have a few qualms about this product.

For one, there is a small gap in between the brush and the handle. My hair would sometimes wind around it and it would be painful to get out. From the reviews, there were a few other people who experienced this as well. The next problem I had with this product was the claims on the box.

The Ion technology is supposed to help reduce frizz more than other hot-air brushes. While it didn’t necessarily create frizz, it didn’t do much to reduce it. I would give this product 4 stars from my personal experience.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer

This product is much more popular. Is this because the actual hot-air brush is better or is just attributed to the fact that Revlon is a more known brand?

The first thing I noticed with this brush was that the actual barrel was larger than the CHI. This made a big difference in the time as well as the wave it created in my hair. The fact that I was able to grab more hair with this brush allowed me to dry my hair in about 15 minutes, cutting down the time in half. It also created a larger wave in my hair instead of a curl. There is also no gap between the barrel and the handle, avoiding the issue I had with the CHI Volumizer 4-in-1.

I’ve had this brush for over a year now and It’s still working and working well. Though, based on reviews, a lot of people can’t say the same. I think it’s important to note that some people did have issues with their dryer breaking down on them after a couple of months. My review for this product would be a 4.5-star rating.
