I’m counting down the days until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. It’s under 100 now! Everyone is excited to see what the bride-to-be will wear on the big day, but for now she’s keeping us ticking over style-wise thanks to a visit to Edinburgh. Meghan Markle couldn’t resist embracing Scotland’s favorite pattern for her first official visit to the country.
Arriving in Edinburgh alongside fiancé Prince Harry, Meghan paid homage to her host country in several ways. The first — and perhaps most obvious — was with her coat, the Burberry double-breasted tartan wool and cashmere-blend coat in a black watch plaid print (shop similar looks here and here), a pattern famously synonymous with Scotland.
Burberry’s tartan coat is part of Christopher Bailey’s latest shoppable runway collection – it shot straight to the top of our wish list the moment we saw it at the show. Made in Italy, it’s tailored from navy and dark-green wool and cashmere-blend and has structured shoulders. The long length works particularly well with a pair of utility boots.
The fact that the garment came from one of Britain’s most iconic designers made it all the more fitting for the occasion.
Or check out (no pun intended, promise!) the Burberry-inspired options in the edit below. We’ve even added a link to Meghan’s Strathberry bag so you can completely copy her look!
