All That Glitters

Take a cue from Kristin Stewart and embrace your glamorous side. Known for her self-proclaimed shyness, Stewart cast aside her shell for awards shows and her Breaking Dawn premieres, appearing again and again in sequins of all colors: a red mini, a floor-length black gown, a vintage-inspired blue dress. I love this shimmering side of her, and it’s inspired me to search out my favorite sparkling dresses. Whether it’s too-the-floor or barely there, a red carpet worthy gown or a mini skirt to dress down, you simply can’t go wrong with sequins. Wear for holiday and then light up the long nights of winter with these shining sequins:

1. Alice + Olivia Kendra Triangle Tunic ($596)
Sheer sparkle. Pair with skinnies or leggings by day, and go bare-legged by night. This versatile dress works as tunic or mini, depending on your mood. Sheer sleeves add a sensual edge, while a cascade of nude sequins give sparkle at its skirt and sleeves.

2. Parker Vintage Beading Open Back Dress ($374)
A dropped waist and delicate beading give this mini dress a very vintage vibe. Layerable just like the Alice + Olivia above, this dress works from day to night. Metallic gray trims add visual interest, but it’s the open back that really wows.

3. Matthew Williamson Sequin Embellished and Feather Dress ($4769)
Feathers and sequins. Matthew Williamson brings together two of this year’s biggest trends (or should I say trims?) in this vision of a dress. Beginning with midnight blue at the neckline and shoulders, the sequins fade from teal to turquoise to charcoal gray and transforms into a picture perfect ending: blush and nude ostrich feathers.

4. Susana Monaco Sequined Party Dress ($275)
Channel your inner Taylor Swift with this party dress. Youthful and oh-so-fresh, this little number has a raw-edged crew neck and flirty skirt. Wear with heels for party night…then layer with leggings and a blazer for day.

5. The Addison Story Silk Chiffon Maxi Dress ($294)
A slight departure from sequins, this gown gets its glitz from gold lame’. Silk chiffon drops delicately from a cowl neckline and gathers in at a simple elastic waist before cascading all the way to the floor. A sexy t-back adds to the goddess glow.

6. Haute Hippie Sequined Miniskirt ($295)
Must-have mini. A sequined skirt is on everyone’s list this season, because…well…it’s just so much fun to wear! Style for day with a chunky knit and tights, black tee and denim jacket, or a bootie and turtleneck. Wear with sky high heels and your favorite blouse to light up the night.
