Sleeping On A Cloud

If you don’t have a bedroom that every time you walk into it you smile, then it’s definitely time for a change.

I have been dreaming and planning my new white bedroom oasis for months because nothing feels more fresh than soft creams, warm greys and crisp white bedding. I wanted to come home to a calm, stress-free space after a long day. I envisioned 4 things…simple, beautiful, elegant and of course cozy! I love the minimalist feel, the clean simplicity and soothing calm of a monochromatic space. White beds feel spa-like, as if they offer a retreat from the craziness of every day life. I wanted clean white bedding you just want to jump in and cuddle up all day with coffee and magazines….perfect for the lazy Sundays I vow to have more of in 2016.

To start I painted my bedroom a soft warm grey color, Anew Gray paint color SW 7030 by Sherwin-Williams. I also needed new lighting, something beautiful and calming. I was thrilled to find this Pottery Barn Taryn Chandelier on sale over the Holidays. It has cascading crystal beads to filter the light for a soft, romantic effect.

I also love my Brooklinen luxe core sheet set. They are perfect for those looking to take their bedding to the next level of comfort and luxury. Brooklinen uses only long staple Egyptian cotton and the quality is amazing. Their sheets are used in the finest hotels because the fabric is so light, soft and smooth, but not with that shiny satin look. They have a slight crispy, crinkly feel to them that is perfect. I also found this super soft quilt on sale at Target which added more beautiful texture to my bed. I also love it because when my kids or pets want to cuddle I simply pull it up, we jump on top and pile on the blankets. Those are some of my favorite quality times.

I also wanted something insanely comfy and super soothing to wrap myself up in, so I invested in the gorgeous Peacock Alley Penelope Duvet. I have been eyeing it for over a year at Anthropologie and was so excited for it to arrive. I absolutely love it, honestly it is the most beautiful duvet I’ve seen anywhere at any price. It is both beautiful and romantic with the perfect touch of elegance because of it’s cotton piquet accented by double layers of ruffled flange. The result is exactly what I wanted, a delicate look mixed with transitional practicality. Durable and timelessly elegant. Added bonus…It has weight to it, but not too much, which I wanted. I read somewhere that sleeping with weighted blankets is one solution to stress, anxiety, insomnia and more. I love how the Penelope Duvet molds to your body, and the light pressure feels like a warm hug.
